Problem
The rapid growth of electric vehicle adoption created a critical gap in the installation ecosystem, where EV owners struggled to find qualified, certified installers for home and commercial charging infrastructure.

Existing solutions were fragmented across multiple platforms, lacked installer verification systems, and provided limited visibility into pricing, availability, and service quality. Installation companies faced challenges in reaching potential customers, while consumers encountered long wait times, inconsistent pricing, and uncertainty about installer credentials and service reliability.
Solution
I designed and built a comprehensive directory platform that connected EV owners with certified chargepoint installers in their local area.

The solution featured a searchable database of verified installation professionals, integrated booking and quote request systems, and transparent pricing and availability information.

The platform included installer profile pages with certifications, customer reviews, portfolio galleries, and real-time availability calendars. This marketplace approach streamlined the discovery process while providing installers with a dedicated channel to showcase their expertise and manage customer relationships.
UX Research
User research revealed distinct needs between residential and commercial customers, leading to differentiated user journeys and content strategies. Through interviews with both EV owners and installation professionals, I identified pain points around trust, verification, quote comparison, and scheduling coordination.

This informed the development of a robust review system, standardised quote templates, and integrated calendar booking functionality. Usability testing with target users validated the search flow effectiveness and helped optimise the installer onboarding process to ensure high-quality directory listings.
UI Design
The interface prioritised intuitive search and discovery with a map-based primary view allowing users to visualise nearby installers geographically. I implemented a clean, modern design with prominent search filters for location, certification types, pricing ranges, and availability windows. Installer profile cards featured clear visual hierarchies highlighting key credentials, ratings, and contact information.

The responsive design ensured seamless functionality across desktop and mobile devices, with particular attention to mobile optimisation given the on-the-go nature of EV ownership and installation planning.
Delivery
I led the full product development lifecycle from concept to launch, managing technical architecture decisions, database design, and front-end implementation.

The project involved integrating third-party APIs for mapping services, payment processing, and communication tools while ensuring scalability for nationwide expansion. I established partnerships to validate installer credentials and implemented automated quality assurance processes.

Customer materials and collateral were also designed to walk them through the process and enable them to provide feedback.
